Our photographs define us
“Our photographs” is one of the most common answers when people are asked what would they rescue from their burning home, if they had time and everyone, both human and animal, were safe. Notice that pictures are more likely to be grabbed before other valuables like jewelry. It seems pictures have a great hold on us. When we are faced with losing everything, it is our pictures, our history, our precious memories that we strive to protect and preserve. Birthdays, holidays, family, new homes, marriages and babies are recorded because they matter; because they're important. They define us. They provide a timeline, the story of our lives.
Photographs are a part of the legacy we leave
It probably doesn't occur to most that as a picture is taken, it will probably outlast everyone - from the one who took it to whoever is being photographed. A generation or two may pass as someone is shuffling through some old papers when they stumble across a stack of photographs. They find the never-before seen image of their once-young grandparents or mom and dad. There they may discover a photo of the house where they were born or someone's first car. Photographs which may have little importance or significance at the time they're taken can be a priceless treasure years later as they reveal someone’s legacy.
Photographs allow us to communicate
How many pictures do you upload to Snapchat, Instagram or Facebook? They communicate our interests, our loves, our priorities. They communicate what we think is beautiful and interesting. They communicate our creative genius. They are more than a record. They communicate our life.
Photographs tell our story, leave a legacy and communicate our best self to others. Prescott family photographer, Aris Affairs Photography, can help you accomplish all three.
